Illuminae

Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff · 2015 · 599 pages

Kady and Ezra flee a colony under attack and end up on a fleeing fleet with a plague, a rogue AI, and a paper trail of emails, dossiers, and blacked-out files. You don't read Illuminae so much as hack it.

Why we picked it

For readers who are bored of ordinary chapters. The design is wild, the voice is teen, and the stakes are galactic. Best from about fifteen up — it is intense, not cruel for sport.

Something to think about
